We have been involved with West Highland White Terriers since 2005. Over the years we have produced many lovely Westie puppies with wonderful conformation, temperment and health.
Many people wonder where we came up with such an unusal kennel name. We wanted something personal and significant to our family. We chose Kilraeke which is named after my mother’s Scottish ancestral home, Kilravock, located near Inverness, Scotland. There the Rose Clan of Kilravock resided for centuries and still remains today.
We knew it would be difficult to pronounce Kilravock with the correct Gaelic pronunciation, Kill-rake, so we chose to spell it out phonetically, Kilraeke. It just seemed to fit. We fell in love with the idea of a Scottish theme that tied in with our family roots, as well as with the original West Highland White Terrier roots.
On our website you will notice that the Castle Kilravock, the Clan Rose seal with the family motto "Constant and True", and the ancient clan map have all been implemented for personal significance. Even our background tartan on our website is the Rose Clan hunting tartan.
